I am currently sitting on the couch in the living room. My computer is upstairs, but I am still able to update my website.
How?
Because I have an iPad.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, but I didn’t buy it. I won it.
You can read how I got it here.
(I suggest you read it.)
Starting in late January, anyone who followed me on Twitter fell victim to a daily updates promoting DreamHost. The company that hosts this site (among others) and was giving away 20 iPads as part of a promotion requiring daily tweets and I eagerly obliged in the hope of being one of the few, proud, first owners.
I didn’t win.
There was a healthy smattering of attempts after that, but all based on random luck. When I heard about the PointInside contest, I didn’t hesitate for a moment before submitting my story. In this contest I had a chance because it wasn’t hinged on luck. There had to be some effort.
As you can guess, since I’m writing on it right now, I won. And victory is sweet.
I would say that I’m luckier than most, and that helps a lot.
But, if you can, be lucky and do something better than the other guy, you might just win yourself an iPad.
